OOK

Preventative Dentistry

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
Ben Franklin

Dr. Butler believes in preventative dentistry and has several programs in place for his patients to help in this area.

Our CariFree Program:
A new way to prevent cavities before they start. Science shows that tooth decay and cavities are caused by a bacterial infection known as caries. This infection is driven by an acidic oral environment.

Our CariFree program employes pH+ technology to neutralize the decay causing acids and treat the bacterial infection. This promotes long term dental health as an alternative to simply treating signs and symptoms by filling cavities.

Dr. Butler or one of our dental hygienists can perform a simple, painless swab test which in minutes gives you the result of your own oral acidic levels. Then caries control solutions will be recommended based on your risk.

Sealants

Dental sealants act as a barrier, protecting the teeth against decay-causing bacteria. The sealants are usually applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (premolars and molars) where decay occurs most often.

Dental sealants are easy to apply and take only a few minutes to seal each tooth.

The likelihood of developing pit and fissure decay begins early in life, so children and teenagers are obvious candidates. But adults can benefit from sealants as well.

Key ingredients in preventing tooth decay and maintaining a healthy mouth are twice-daily brushing with an ADA-accepted fluoride toothpaste; cleaning between the teeth daily with floss or interdental cleaners; eating a balanced diet and limiting snacks; and visiting your dentist reguarly. As
k Dr. Butler about how sealants can put extra power behind your prevention program.
